Lane Maarhuis Gets First BCHL Win

A big congratulations to former Glacier Kings goaltender Lane Maarhuis who notched his first BCHL victory yesterday as the Vernon Vipers edged the Blackfalds Bulldogs 3-2. The 19 year old Chilliwack native stopped 33 of 35 shots against the top team in the Interior East Division. He was also named the second star of the game. The Vipers remain in the basement of the Interior West Division with a 10-22-7 record.

Maarhuis played 4 games for the GKings before being called up and sported a 2-1-1 record, 1.95 GAA, .939 save percentage. This is his third team he’s been on this season as he started the year with the Victoria Cougars where he was 10-3-1, 2.27 GAA, .925 save percentage. In his 18 total VIJHL contests, Maarhuis had 2 shoutouts and only gave up more than 3 goals twice. The 6′ 6″ 185 lb netminder played for Dawson Creek of the NWJHL last season after competing in the HSL U18 league the year before for the Fraser Valley Aces U18 Prep squad.
