After a couple of months away, I’m thrilled to say this blog is officially back up and running.
Life happens, seasons get busy, and sometimes the keyboard has to sit idle for a bit as I have been away but if there’s one thing that has never faded, it’s my passion for the Comox Valley Glacier Kings and the story of this team.
I want to say thank you to everyone who reached out to me with kind words of support and encouragement. It was amazing hearing how people enjoyed the blog so much and wanted me to continue. And with so much happening over the last stretch of the season, now felt like the perfect time to jump back in.
Whether you’ve been reading from the start or you’re just discovering this blog now, thank you for being here. Buckle up—because the blog is back, the season has delivered plenty of storylines, and there’s a lot of Glacier Kings hockey to talk about.
But before I go…
I would like to mention the loss of a hockey broadcast legend while I was away. Long time Alberni Valley Bulldogs play by play broadcaster Evan Hammond passed away on January 2nd which shook up the hockey world. “The Hammer”, as he was known to most people, was also the long time morning show host at 93.3 The Peak in Port Alberni. Evan was known for doing his homework, diving into hours of research and was by far the most well-known broadcaster in the BCHL. Our paths crossed many times while I was a broadcaster for the Powell River Kings and also when he filled in to do the play by play for the Port Alberni Bombers. I can say he was a true professional, a kind human and someone many of us wanted to emulate. “Hammer” was loved by so many. You will be missed. He was just 45 years old. 💔
